Illustrative procurement scenario
How should you test a used vision inspection system?
For ceramic factory procurement and engineering teams

Equipment-family illustration; not the manufacturer’s referenced machine or a CeramBridge project record.
The procurement question
A local service team evaluates a candidate system for an existing line. Assume a trial with 200 known-defective tiles and 800 known-good tiles, agreed and labelled before testing.
System Ceramics lists PC software and frame-grabber upgrades for Qualitron, illustrating why the computer and software belong in a modernization review.

Make the inputs visible

| Input or check | Calculation · assumed buyer inputs | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Defects missed in the example trial | 4 ÷ 200 defective tiles | 2% miss rate |
| Good tiles rejected in the example trial | 24 ÷ 800 good tiles | 3% false-reject rate |
| Total sample | 200 defective + 800 good | 1,000 tiles |
These invented results explain the calculation, not an acceptable threshold. The buyer must set defect classes, minimum defect size, line speed and tolerances before testing. A sample trial does not establish long-term performance.
Evidence before a recommendation
- Software version, transferable license, backups and recovery procedure
- Camera, lighting, frame grabber and operating-system compatibility
- Results by defect class; false rejects and misses recorded separately
- Local support scope, access permissions and training requirements
Agree the local and sourcing roles
The local team builds the defect library and checks the reject interface. The sourcing review requests the full hardware and software configuration. OEM support and license transfer need separate confirmation.
